When deciding for a proper place to hang your artwork consider the following:
Light in combination with oxygen, moisture and pollutants in the air will cause fading of the works on paper. Artwork should not be hung in rooms that have strong daylight. Direct and indirect sunlight and fluorescent illumination should be avoided.
Avoid places with high humidity. High relative humidity (above 70%) will cause the growth of mold. If the relative humidity falls below 30% art on paper may become brittle. Air-conditioners, humidifiers and dehumidifiers will protect art from damages cased by high or low humidity.
A sudden drop to low temperatures can cause condensation in the framed art. High temperature can cause drying. Avoid placing light fixtures that can generate hit (halogen lights, radiators etc.) close to works of art. Low relative humidity in combination with high temperatures can cause yellowing of the art on paper and it can become brittle.
If you will notice a discoloration in places where the paper mat meets the artwork, replace this mat with the acid-free mat.
